Optical signal processing
IO signal processors implements high-speed real-time processing based on its parallel processing capability. An IO RF spectrum analyzer (IOSA) is a representative IO signal processor consisting of a waveguide acoustooptic Bragg cell and a Fourier transform component. We have developed several types of IOSAs on Ti:LiNbO3 waveguides, which include an IOSA using a focusing grating coupler (FGC) as the Fourier transform component. Other IO signal processors have been implemented by modifying the IOSA configuration. A time-integrating-type IO correlator with a specially-designed biaxial FGC was fabricated and demonstrated. A full-parallel matrix-vector multiplier was implemented using a modified herringbone electrooptic grating array.
